Routine Oily skin Light layers that control shine without stripping Oily skin makes more sebum, the natural oil that keeps skin supple, so it looks shiny a few hours after washing, mostly on the forehead, nose and chin. Pores often look larger and clog more easily, which can lead to blackheads and breakouts. Oily skin still needs water and moisturizer: stripping it with harsh products leaves it tight and irritated without keeping shine away for long. Routine Dry skin Gentle cleansing and rich layers that hold moisture in Dry skin makes less oil and has a weaker barrier, so water escapes more easily and skin feels tight, rough or flaky. It often gets worse in winter, with hot showers and with age. The goal is to cleanse gently, add water, then seal it in with richer creams. Routine Combination skin Balance an oily T-zone and drier cheeks in one routine Combination skin is oily in some areas, usually the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), and normal or dry on the cheeks. It often shifts with the seasons, oilier in summer and drier in winter. The idea is a gentle base routine for the whole face, with oil control only where you need it. Routine Normal skin A simple routine that protects what is working Normal skin is neither very oily nor very dry, rarely reacts to products and has few breakouts. It still changes with age, seasons and sun exposure, so the focus is prevention: daily sunscreen, an antioxidant in the morning and a retinoid at night. Routine Sensitive skin Fewer products, gentle formulas, a stronger barrier Sensitive skin reacts easily with stinging, burning, redness or itching, often to fragrance, heat, wind or strong actives. It usually means the skin barrier is weaker, and it can go along with conditions like rosacea or eczema. The goal is a short routine of gentle, fragrance-free products and very slow changes.
